Within our nursery we have two classes, Caterpillars (1 – 2.5 years) and Butterflies our Preschool room (2.5 – 5 years). The nursery operates on a free-flow basis allowing the children to choose which activity they want to do. We encourage them learn through play and are there to guide them, helping build towers, cook imaginary gastronomic delights, make mud pies in the garden or design amazing houses.
We love reading, doing puzzles, singing songs, running around and laughing lots. The Caterpillar children sit down and enjoy some singing and exploring with musical instruments everyday, while the Butterflies come together to enjoy some group circle games and to learn about their themes also singing a variety of songs which supports them with learning about the days of the week and the different types of weather.
Our Butterfly children are also lucky enough to enjoy two PE sessions a week planned for by following our children’s interest – we especially enjoy acting out ‘Going on a bear hunt’, exploring with different ways of moving our bodies. We also run a reading scheme which children can take part in if their parent / carer wish by having a book bag and borrowing a book from nursery to share at home. This is all part of children being supported with school readiness.
We have a fantastic outside space which is laid mostly to artificial grass which all the children enjoy using throughout their sessions and are actively encouraged to explore during all weathers.
Our aim is ensure the best possible start for the children in our care and to work with parents as flexibly as possible so that our care fits in with working needs too.
